Director/Artist/Animator
In my art the progress of time coincides with a progression across the genetic diversity of specimens I've collected. In the case of synthetic objects subtle flaws are responsible for the pulses and rhythms my work exhibits. The lighting is unnatural, the depth of field is shallow, and dust creates the noise that I rely on most to typify my animation.
The content of my films tends to be readily available, often surrounding me en masse. Digital image acquisition and manipulation also becomes more accessible at lower costs everyday. Whether I'm living near the "city of flowers" or a shell rich coastline will determine the kind of projects I envision. I take the available and commonplace and create work through a process that would have seemed prohibitively expensive just a few years ago. From the dirt or sand outside my front door, to the surface of a $150 scanner, through a series of software packages, and off to a music venue or art museum... things that are typically overlooked, tread into the ground, or discarded are given a new, unique significance.

Bio
I spent my childhood in Northeast Florida looking for sharks teeth, giving gopher tortoises rides in my wagon, learning not to pick stinging nettles the hard way, and pretending to be a giant monster by smashing the seasonally infamous 'love bugs' out of the sky with sticks (something I'm no longer proud of). The one thing unifying all of my interests was the careful observation of my most immediate natural surroundings.
In 2005 I earned my Bachelors degree in Digital Arts and Sciences from the University of Florida. After helping my grandmother with the illustration for a music education concept geared toward young children I departed on a three year pilgrimage to Southern California. I had a loose gig helping to produce live webcasts of major surf events and my days were spent picking apart plants and collecting random objects of interest. In the Beginning, my animations were something that my friends mistook for screensavers when I was looping them fullscreen on a computer in the corner of my roommates' band room. Since then I've taken my art to concert venues, international film screens, and museums. Today my films and animated loops are currently more well traveled than I am.
